Bio

Kathy provides the best quality, private tuition in clarinet, piano, recorder and music theory at her home studio in The Gap, Brisbane.

She started teaching clarinet as a high school student, then completed her music degree at Bretton Hall College of Contemporary Performing Arts (University of Leeds), where she developed a lifelong interest in creativity and self-expression through music. She went on to study a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (University of Southampton) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling (Canberra University).

Kathy was appointed primary school teacher and Head of Music in Portsmouth, UK, before emigrating to Australia in 2000. Since then, she has taught privately and in Australian schools and founded the Noisy Fish School of Music in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane.  Now, Kathy teaches clarinet, piano, recorder and music theory at her busy studio in The Gap, Brisbane.

The beautifully refurbished studio is equipped with an acoustic Kawai piano and a digital Roland stage piano. It is fully self-contained with comfortable waiting areas, bathroom facilities, air conditioning and ample car parking just outside.

Whether you’re interested in studying for AMEB exams, want to learn music for leisure, or need some therapeutic “me time”, Kathy is highly experienced at providing engaging, individually crafted lessons to suit your specific needs, learning styles and musical tastes.

Lessons are available during the day and after school. Online lessons are also available.
